The policy for new source releases

New GoRun source releases use a custom source-available community license. This is not a claim of an OSI-approved open-source license or unrestricted MIT licensing.

  • Individuals and freelancers may use the new release free, including for commercial work.
  • Nonprofit organizations may use the new release free for their nonprofit activities.
  • Companies require a separate license, including company-controlled deployments prepared by freelancers. Contact the team to agree the applicable terms; no company price or support period is promised here.

The LICENSE file included with the exact release is authoritative. If your organizational status or client-delivery arrangement is unclear, request clarification before using or redistributing the release.

Third-party components keep their own licenses and notices. This community policy does not replace those obligations.

Software eligibility and services are separate

Free eligibility does not include a server, managed hosting or an unspecified support commitment. GoCloud managed hosting remains $19 per month or $228 per year in USD. Installation and support are available by request for a quote, separately from a company license.

Previously released MIT copies

Copies already released under MIT retain the rights granted by their MIT license. The new policy does not retroactively withdraw those rights. Keep the license and notices associated with the exact version you received; do not assume newer releases use the same terms.

GoRun Community Source License 1.0
Copyright (c) 2026 ZAD STACK / Ahmed Morsy

This is a source-available license, not an OSI-approved open-source license.
"Software" means the original GoRun code and documentation expressly
distributed under this license. Third-party components and copies already
validly obtained under MIT are excluded from this grant and retain their
own licenses.

1. Eligible users
An individual natural person may use the Software, including for personal
commercial work or freelance work. A nonprofit organization may use the
Software for its nonprofit activities. An individual acting on behalf of,
operating a deployment for, or providing a deployment controlled by a
for-profit company does not qualify that company's use as individual use.
A sole trader acting as an individual qualifies; an incorporated for-profit
business, partnership, or other for-profit legal entity does not.

2. Community grant
Subject to these terms, eligible users may use, copy, study, modify, and
redistribute the Software in source or compiled form, including charging
for their own work. Redistributed copies and modifications must retain
this license and copyright notices and must not grant permissions that
remove its company-use restriction. Each recipient must qualify under
section 1 or obtain a separate commercial license before using the Software.
Ownership of user-created content is unaffected by this license.

3. Company use
A for-profit company must obtain a separate written commercial license
from the copyright holder before using the Software for its business,
including internal operations, client deployments, or a hosted service.
A freelancer's permission does not license a company that receives and
controls the Software or its deployment. Contact [email protected] to
request terms. Installation, hosting, and support services are separate
from any commercial license unless their written agreement includes it.

4. Notices and third-party software
Retain copyright and license notices. Third-party dependencies, fonts,
assets, and other components retain their own licenses; this license
neither changes those licenses nor restricts their separately granted
rights. No trademark rights are granted. The copyright holder retains
all rights not expressly granted here.

5. Compliance and termination
The permissions granted here terminate if you materially breach these
terms. They are reinstated if you cure the breach within 30 days after
receiving written notice, unless the copyright holder has previously
terminated your permissions for the same kind of breach.

6. Warranty and liability
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW,
THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER
LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.

7. Earlier releases
Copies validly obtained under the earlier MIT license retain those MIT
permissions. This license does not revoke them or relicense third-party
work. The historical GoRun MIT notice is preserved in
licenses/GoRun-MIT-legacy.txt for reference; it does not replace the
license governing a new release that expressly uses this license.
